Into the Borderlands

Post a hearty breakfast, we set off for Dharchula, a charming border town divided by the Kali River and shared by both India and Nepal. The drive is a visual delight, winding past gorges and green ridges.

Upon arrival, we settle into our rest house and proceed with the Inner Line Permit procedures and medical checksrequired for our sacred adventure. With formalities done, the rest of the day is yours to explore — perhaps take a short stroll across the hanging bridge into Nepal, chat with locals, or sip tea with views of the river that binds two nations.

Climbing into Serenity

Elevation: 3200 M
Distance: 71 km

Today, climbing is the main achievement on the other hand the road to Gunji is slightly rugged yet enchanting, dotted with gurgling waterfalls, lush valleys, and quaint Himalayan villages. The air gets frigid, the mountains loom closer, and a quiet calm settles over us as we enter the Restricted Zone of Kumaon.

Gunji, a remote village hidden at 10,500 feet, is where ancient mythology blends into stark Himalayan beauty. Here, time slows down and spirituality energies in the air.

The Divine Manifestation

Elevation: 4246 M
Distance: 22 km

Today is the day your soul has waited for. After breakfast, we drive towards Nabidang, the viewpoint for Om Parvat — a rare natural wonder where snow patterns on the black mountain miraculously form the symbol ‘ॐ’. Many believe it to be a divine manifestation, visible only to the blessed.

During back, we stop at the Sheshnag Parvat, said to resemble the legendary adder of Lord Vishnu, and visit Ved Vyas Gufa, believed to be where the sage Vyas composed the Mahabharata. Nearby stands the ancient Kali Temple, evoking deep reverence.

We return to Gunji with our hearts full and spirits lifted.

In the Shadow of the Sacred

Distance: 68 km drive + 3 Km trek

An early morning wake-up call beckons us toward the climax of this divine journey — the revered Adi Kailash, also known as Chhota Kailash. Enroute, we witness majestic sights: Kunti Parvat, Pandav Fort, and the ethereal Parvati Mukut. Each peak and formation feels like a page from an epic, rising proudly against the sky.

Our vehicle takes us to Jyolingkong, from where a short yet unforgettable 3 km trek leads us to Parvati Sarovar — a sacred glacial lake reflecting the mighty Adi Kailash. Nearby, the Adi Kailash Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, radiates a mystical calm. Pilgrims meditate, chant, and offer prayers in the shadow of this awe-inspiring mountain that resembles the original Mount Kailash in Tibet.

We return to Gunji by evening, transformed.

The Descent

Morning, after breakfast, we wave off to the high mountains and start our journey to descend back toward civilization. Returning the same route via Dharchula, Now the way will reflect the peace, the prayers, the peaks and the memories.

Till evening, we will reach Pithoragarh and check in the hotel for a restful night.

Farewell to the Mountains

After breakfast, we set out for Kathgodam, carrying in our hearts the echoes of chants, the silence of mountains, and the energy of the sacred lands we’ve walked upon. Though the journey ends, the blessings and memories will stay with us forever.
