Program Overview
The Kedarkantha Trek is one of the most captivating winter treks in India, situated in the Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand. Known for its pristine beauty, it offers trekkers an unforgettable journey through snow-covered trails, dense forests, and alpine meadows, with spectacular views of prominent Himalayan peaks such as Swargarohini, Bandarpunch, Black Peak, and Kedarnath. The trek reaches its highest point at the Kedarkantha Summit, at an altitude of 3,850 meters, offering panoramic views that are especially stunning during sunrise and sunset. The trek typically spans 6 days, covering a distance of 20-25 kilometers, making it ideal for beginners and intermediate trekkers. The route passes through picturesque spots like Juda Ka Talab, a serene lake surrounded by towering pine trees, and the Kedarkantha Base Camp, known for its breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The trek is best experienced during the winter months, from December to April, when the entire region is blanketed in snow, offering a true winter wonderland. The trail also offers the chance to witness the diverse flora and fauna of the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park, home to rare species like the Himalayan Monal and Musk Deer. Accessible from Sankri, a small village, the trek is not just an adventure but also an opportunity to immerse yourself in the tranquility and beauty of the Indian Himalayas.
